About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit FAQ

Do you need a visa to a different country to obtain the 72 hour free transit

I'm traveling from USA to Thailand. On my return I'll be stopping in Beijing for 2 days. You don't need an entry permit to enter Thailand but do you need a passport and an entry permit from a different country to obtain the 72 hour free transit in China.

Joe, as Thailand is visa-free to Americans, you just need to show your passport and onward flight ticket to Thailand. The entry permit from a different country is not required.
