"Westernized" Chinese names

From the answers to #2-4, it looks as if some Chinese people "Westernize" their names by putting the given name first and the family name second. Is there any way to know--besides recognizing the family names? Seems like there is no way to get this right.

Monica, we are not westernized. English names are represented this way. So we do the same thing. Most Chinese names have three characters. The family name is usually a word and given name usually has two words.

However, you might have a trouble when seeing a Chinese name that just has two words. Don't be afraid. They know the international rule that given name is put first and the family name second.
