multiple entries, is it possible?

hi! i am already in Shanghai since 5 months ago, holding a F type which expires on july 22. I will start mandarin studies so it is possible to change my visa from F to student without going out of China?
and i would like to have multiple entries, is that possible?

thanks a lot!

Patricia, it's possible to change from the F type to student type. If you plan to study there for more than 180 days, you should apply for an X1 type and then get a temporary residence permit with the X1 type. The residence permit allows you to exit and enter freely within its valid period. If your study is not longer than 180 days, I'm afraid you can get the multiple entries, though you can have a try.
