Tourists in Thailand applying for Chinese visa in BKK

Hello

I am a tourist visiting Thailand. Will I be able to apply for a Chinese Tourist type at the embassy in Bangkok? I have a valid Thai tourist visa stamp in my passport, or is it only foreigners with Thai residency that can apply here?

Thanks
