Teenager wondering about short skirts and shorts in extream heat

Are skirts above the knee and shorts ok to wear for a 16 year old girl ( seeing as where I am going is very hot and most my clothes are above the knee ) I am going on a school trip and am visiting Beijing and then spending time in a Chinese school and am worried that typical western teenage summer clothes are a bit inappropriate in China?? Thankyou
