About:Xijiang Qianhu Miao Village

Traveling in China during Golden Week in October

Hello I am travelling in China from September 24 to October 24. I only recently learned about Golden Week and some of the difficulites of travelling as a tourist at this time.
I am staying in Beijing until the 29th of September and then I was thinking to go to Yuansho to stay until
the 7th of October. I have recently read that Kaili and the surrounding area
could be a good place to stay as it
is a bit out of the way and so might not be a good place to stay.
Can anyone give me advice about the place at this time of year?
I am fine with the idea of seeing crowds of people enjoying their holiday
but it I thought I would try to get away from the crush.
Can anyone let me know if it would be a good place

Kaili is perfect destination at that time. It has the largest Miao people group and the longest Fengyu Bridge. There you will learn about Miao people’s unique dwellings and their special custom. During the golden week, there will be less people there than other hot attractions, The transportation is also ok. Don’t worry.

Kaili in Guizhou is quite far from Beijing, which means you would still have to use Air or Train transport to get there from Beijing. It is a nice place to rest, but apart from the Miao village there is nothing to do there. You will get bored after a day or two. If I were you, I would still go to Yangshuo which is in Guilin. It has many entertainment spots including restaurants, bars, nightclubs etc and the scenary is also beautiful. To go to Yangshuo, you will have to either take a train or flight to Guilin city and then take a few hours river cruise on the Yangtze river.

Thanks for the reassurance Mary. I have booked accommodation and will definately go ahead with Kaili for Golden week. :)
