C.W., international credit cards are widely used in PRC. Many online sellers accept credit payment, Visa, MC, JCB etc.

Thank you for you response!!

I have encountered conflicting information, that a business in China can only accept international credit card payments while in country, in person. That they are not able to process international credit card payments outside of the country. Also, that POS machines do not have the capability to enter in the credit card number and expiration date for online payment, that you can only swipe/brush the card in person. So, yes, in country they can take international cc payments, but not international cc payments outside of the country. Or am I just confusing myself???

C.W., I have seen many foreigners buy things from online Chinese sellers. Some of them paid with their credit cards successfully. You can connect your credit cards with your paypal account and then pay via Paypal as long as the website supports Paypal. It's much safer than paying with your credit cards directly.

Thank you, Fay!

I guess the issue with our company is that we opened a WFOE office as a professional society in China and the foreign currency administration does not allow that type of business to process outside the country international credit cards. It seems that if our company were setup as an eCommerce merchant than the rules would allow international credit card payments to be processed whether inside the country or outside.

Any additional thoughts? Can our office have both designations as a professional society and eCommerce merchant?

C.W., I thought you just asked about personal use of international credit cards. I am sorry that I know nothing about WFOE matters. You'd better consult this with some pros in this issue.
