For your stopover, no visa is needed. Upon landing, just walk to the inspection frontier to fill in a form and get a stay permit in several minutes. With the permit, you will be allowed to leave for downtown.

Hope your 15h is mostly daytime, so that you can have a good sightseeing. Take shuttle bus line 5 to Haizhu Square and walk to the nearby Tianzi Port to experience the cruise on Pearl River. After that, head to the nearby Beijing Road for free dining and shopping. You won't be disappointed. After these all, if there is time left, the Canton Tower is highly recommended. It is right next to Canton Tower metro station on line 3. After visiting, take line 3 to airport directly to catcah your flight.
