The total length of the walls built in different dynasties is 13,170.69 miles (21,196.18 kilometers). The main purpose is to defend against the invasion of the minorities. Today, the most intact wall we see was almost built during the Ming Dynasty. It starts from Jiayuguan Pass in the west nad ends at Shanhaiguan Pass in the east.
