Hi Akki, the Z type is a kind of one time entry permit which is valid for 30 days after you enter China. What differs the Z type from regular single entry permit is that you can apply for a residence permit with the Z type after you enter China. And withi the residence permit, you can exit and enter freely witout applying for new entries.

It takes four working days to get the Z type. The cost is Rs 4977, including Rs 3900 paid to the embassy and Rs 1077 paid to the CVASC. To get Z type, you need to submit your passport, passport copy, application form, recent photo, work permit, an invitation letter from duly authorized unit, and a personal written statement.

Your new employer helps you acqure the work permit from the local labor bureau and the invitation letter from local foreign affairs bureau. I think you need pay for them. Your employer can handle it. Yes, it takes around 15 working days each to get them ready.

You are right. You need to apply for a new Z type in India. Along as you have all required documents, you shoudn't meet some troubles during your application. However, you should understand that it's still possible the consular officers might refuse your application though the chance is very low.
