About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Can I leave the airport for couple of hours if I'm a transit passenger from Russia travelling to Aus

I'm from Russia. I travel to Melbourne via Beijing. I arrive to Beijing at 07.15 a.m. on the 18th of June. My flight to Melbourne is at 01.05 a.m. the next day. So I have about 18 hours before that flight and I'd like to stay at the hotel outside the airport to sleep and relax. Can I do it as a transfer passenger after I get a 72-hour visa-free transit?
Thank you!

You enjoy 72 hours free transit so that you needn't apply any type in advance. Yes, you can exit the airport to stay at your hotel without any entry permit.
