Cycle in Beijing

I am visiting the city. Where can I rent a good bike for the day? Any recommendations of shops?

For public bike: on this webpage, you can find many Sites for Registering Bike Rental Card, where you can get a Transportation Card and activate its bike rental function. Usually close to these sites, you can easily rent a bike.

Alternatively, I know some international hostels offer bikes for their guests. And you can sometimes rent one near Hutongs.
