About:China Visa Entries / Validity / Duration of Stay

Do Australian nationals need to apply for a tourist visa and how long do they take to get approved?

Hi
my wife and I are thinking of going to Shanghai to visit some friends and sight-seeing the city. I assume we would need to wait until we have purchased our flights?

Zam, you need to apply for a tourist type for both of you, but you don't have to wait until you have purchased flight tickets. If you can provide an invitation letter from your friend, the flight tickets are not necessary to provide. It normally takes four working days for the processing.
