what is the possibility that I will be granted visa without renewing my passport?

My Australian passport will expire by October 2015 and I will travel to china on 30th of June as a tourist for 7 days only, My time to renew my passport is running out.

I'm afraid your application may be denied if you don't renew your passport. The six-month remaining validity of the applicant's passport is required when applying for Chinese entry permits.
