About:Chinese Crew, Resident and Journalist Visa

J-2 Visa to cover World Championships in Athletics (track and field)

Hello,
I live in the United States. I have received a letter confirming my application for accreditation to cover this event. I am still waiting for my letter of invitation from the organizing committee for Beijing 2015. However, I have been told that the letter can only be accepted at my consulate (Houston) and that I have to apply in person and cannot use an agency. Is this correct? I live far from Houston.

Karen, as the J-2 type is a special type, I personally think it's correct that you have to apply for it in person. You can contact the consulate for further confirmation.
