About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit FAQ

how complicated is it to get the visa clearance at the airport? how long does it take?

So if I fly from the US to Beijing, stay in Beijing for less than 72 hours, then fly to Japan for 2 weeks, then fly back to the US, I wouldn't need an entry permit?

Thank you very much

Brian, your route is fine for 72 hours free transit. The process is easy. After landing at the airport, you just need to follow the signs to reach the window where you can apply for 72 hours free transit. The immigration officers there check your passport, onward flight ticket and onward entry permit to Japan (if required). If everything is fine, you will have a stamp on your passport. If there isn't a long queue, you should have it done in just a few minutes.
