About:Shanghai Travel

Airport transfer in Shanghai.

Hi, I am flying to the city.
Arriving: 12am
Departure: 1am

At this hour. What do you propose for transportation to hotel?
1) taxi? -not sure roughly how much or how cut throat (they do print receipt?)
2) Book airport transport service online?
3) etc..

There is still the night shuttle bus available. You can take that to downtown area, and then take a taxi to your hotel.
If you take a taxi the whole way from the airport to downtown, it may cost you CNY200 – 230 around. They charges by meters, and they will also print the receipt for you.

If you need t book the airport pick up service, you can ask your hotel to arrange for you. Or you can book it through the website you are visiting, TravelChinaGuide. As I know, they also have the pick-up service and they have English speaking guide. You can contact them at travel@travelchinaguide.com.

by the way.. there are 4 of us..

1) when you said taxi. there will be taxi waiting around the airport area right?

2) do you have any idea if taxi in china charge extra during midnight etc?

3) I heard stories that taxi in china doesnt like picking up passengers with suitcases. (Is this somewhat true?)

1. Yes, there are always several taxies waiting outside the airport area. You can easily get one.
2. Taxi fare in the night, especially after midnight is higher than the day time. But it won't be so expensive. In general, the extra money is CNY 15 to 20. So don't worry.
3. No, that's not true. Most taxi drivers are friendly. And every taxi has the trunk to put your suitcases.

BTW, you may need two taxis if you four are big (sorry if I offend you) and have many pieces of luggage.
