Suman, it's possible that you can get the Z type as long as you can provide all documents required by the consualr office. Generally speaking, the Z type is only valid for 30 days. After you enter China, you should get a residence permit with the Z type within these 30 days. The residence permit will allow you to stay in China for one year or so. You can extend it at the exit and entry administration office before it expires if you want to stay longer. That is, you can teach in China for many years if you wish and you can get legal contract from your employer.
