X2 visa convert to L visa

Hi again
Elle here. As im embarking on a student exchange to china from sep 2015 to jan 2016, i understand that i have to obtain the X2.

Upon completing the exchange, i plan to travel around for awhile. May i know if it is possible to convert my student type to a tourist pass? And if yes, can i convert it within mainland and is it easy to convert my student visa to tourist pass?

Many thanks for the help.
regards
Elle

If your X2 isn't expired after you finish your exchange, you still can use it to travel to other places. If its left duration isn't long enough to support your travel, then you can try to change it to L type at local entry and exit management bureau. However, I can't guarantee that you can do it successfully. The officers there have the final say. They decide whether you are required to apply outside of mainland or not.
