About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit FAQ

Do we need a visa? We are from UK.

We are arriving in Shanghai on a cruise ship travelling from Japan via South Korea and intend flying back to the UK the same day or the following day if this is not possible.
Thanks

If you fly back to UK within 24 hours, then you needn't apply for anything. Otherwise, you should apply for a transit type in advance.

How do we get a transit type? What about the 72 hour exemption.

Thanks for your help

As you arrive in Shanghai by cruise ship, the 72 hour exemption policy does not work for you. If you need to apply for the transit type entry permit, you should prepare your passport, passport copy, application form, recent photo, and round-trip tickets. Then submit all the materials to the CVASC in the UK and apply for a G type.
