About:China Tourist Visa

I thought I read that a tourist visa can now be good for 10 years with multiple entries.

I am a US passport holder. If this is incorrect, I do not want to apply too soon as I am traveling in Sept

Merry, it si true that US citizens can now apply for the 10-year multiple-entry permit, but you don't need to apply too early. Otherwise, it's a waste of the validity if you plan to visit in Septemeber. You are suggested to apply one month before your trip.
