About:Hong Kong Airport Taxi

Airport to Tsim Sha Tsui; do taxis have meter, can one pay w. credit card, is a tip expected?

The 2 of us will be in Hong Kong twice within 30 days: first time for 2.5 days, second time for 3.5 days. We will stay in an apartment in Tsim Sha Tsui Kowloon on Hart Ave Court, Hart Ave.

We are trying to figure out two things:

1. the best way to get to/from the airport and apartment

2. the most practical way for using public transportation during our stay in HK..

We are in our upper 60s and we will have probably one medium size luggage and 2 carry on-s, so we don't want to have to change many public transportation options and go up and down many stairs on the way to/from the airport.

If we use a cab, do taxis have meter, can one pay w. credit card, is a tip expected?

What's the most economical and practical pass for seniors (mostly for the subway, maybe for the train to the airport ) that one can use for short (3-4 day) stays in HK?

Thanks.

I’m afraid you cannot pay with your credit card. You are suggested to exchange some HKD cash in advance. And a tip is expected.
From the airport, you can take the bus A21 to Mody Road, Chatham Road South. Then you can get to your hotel within few mins walking. The bus fare is HKD33 per person, and the travel time is about 70 mins. When you go back to the airport, the route is vice versa.
During your stay, the most practical way must be MTR, which is mature, cheap and fast.
Taxis charge by meter, and the fare from airport to the hotel is about HKD240, and you travel with luggage, that will charges an extra fee of HKD5 per piece.

You can buy one airport express travel pass, it includes with either one or two Airport Express single journey(s) (the train to airport you have mentioned) plus 3 consecutive days of unlimited travel on MTR (except Airport Express, East Rail Line First Class, Lo Wu and Lok Ma Chau stations). If you top up it, it Will function like a normal octopus card, and you can use it when the next time you visit HK. It is the best choice for you.
