About:Chinese Temporary Residence Permit

is it okay to stay in China till December (enter/exit) if I'm not extending my contract?

Hi,
my working contract will be finished next week. my residence permit is valid till December.

Theoretically, you can do this because your resident permit isn't expired. However, if your employer notifies the entry and exit management bureau, then the bureau is able to cancel your resident permit.

In my view, you either find another employer to change your resident permit or go to local entry and exit management bureau to change your Z into L type. This ensures that you won't have any trouble.
