About:China Family Reunion Visa

New Q2 visa

I've just read that according to the new policy the Q2 type is applicable to foreigners who come to China for a temporary visit to Chinese citizens or foreigners with permanent residency in China. So this can be applied also to my friends that want to come and visit me (foreigner with permanent residency in China), not only to relatives, right? what about the entries/exit? is it only 1 or can be multiple?

Vanessa, only your family members can apply for the Q2 type, not your friends. The Q2 type can be of single entry, double entries, or multiple entries. The consular officer will determine the number of entried according to practical situation.

Your friends need to apply for the S type.
