is it best to get an octopus card when you visit hong kong for three days?

Yes, it is. You can use it on MTR, buses, ferries, Airport Express even the peak tram to Victoria Peak. For the public transportations, you can even get some disounts. It also saves the trouble to prepare cashes and loose changes.

For the Standard Adult Card, the deposit fare is 50 HKD and the initial stored value is 100 HKD.
