hotel (very) near the stone forest

Hi, I will be next August a few hours in Kunming, just one night, arriving arround 21.30 to the Airport, and stoppover to the next destination, taking a new flight next day at 16.00I don't know what is best, to take a taxi from Airport to a Hotel near the Forest (i don't know if there is any over there), to visit sooner the next day and come back to the Airport on time, or if it's enought to sleep on Kun mimg city, drive next day to the forest, visit, and come back after the visit to the airport?What do you think? Do you know any hotel near the Forest?Thanks in advanceAlberto from Spain

It is around 95km from the airport to the Stone Forest. It is not that easy to take a taxi or impossible to use public transportation to the scenic area that late. So I suggest you take airport shuttle bus line 1 or line 6 and get off at East Renmin Road (Xinying Community). Then take a taxi to the East Bus Station within 10-15min. Check in a hotel near the bus station and in the next morning, take a direct bus to the scenic area in around 1.5h to fully enjoy yourself there. Don't worry! It is easy to find a hotel near the bus station and you can check in on the spot.
