What was the importance of the Silk Road to the Chinese?

Esther, it serves as a bridge that connects the Western Regions (even Europe) together with China. Thanks to this road, Chinese people imported jewels, wine, western vegetables and learnt of Western Culture. Meanwhile, Chinese silk, chinaware and other specialties were exported abroad too.
