About:Visa Policy of China

How long do I need to make Visa China? what kind of document should I bring?

Hello, I am an Indonesian. I'm currently study in Taiwan and I have ARC (Alien Resident Certificate). At June 1-7, I have a Conference in Shanghai and I get an Invitation Letter for that program.
My local friends said to me that I should apply VOA in Hongkong and It take 1-2 hours to create it. Is that true? Because I will depart to HK on June 1 in the morning and I will depart to Shanghai in the afternoon. Is that okey? Mine is L type. How long I need to make it? what kind of document should I bring? Or may be you can help or any suggestion? Cause I think the time It's too short.
Thank you.

Elita, the entry permit for Hong Kong is not same as that for mainland, so you have to apply for one entry permit to enter mainland. However, I’m not sure whether you can apply from Hong Kong because you are not living there. Maybe you can hire an agent to apply for you. If possible, you had better go back to Indonesia to do the application.

In addition, as you hold an Indonesian passport, you can stay in HK freely for 30 days. You can try to get the mainland entry permit from Hong Kong, but not in one day. The quickest processing time is two working days. The documents should include your passport, a copy of the passport, an application form, a recent photo, and an invitation letter from a relevant person or organization in mainland.
