About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Can he use the 72 hour transit visa if he flys from Italy to Wuhan then back to Italy?

My boss is a german citizen living in Switzerland.

Hey Sharon! He can't fly from Italy and then back there directly. This itinerary does meet the requirements of free transit policy. However, on his way back, he can transit in a third country or in Hong Kong before going back to Italy. In this way the 72h free transit is available to him.
