What information do I need to provide for touring china with family and kids?

I am currently working and living in Shanghai. I will be getting married this summer here and my family would like to come for the wedding. It will be my mom, dad, and two kids aged 11 and 13. As it is my wedding we will have hotels booked some of the days, but under a different name as we are not sure how to divide up the rooms among our other guests. We will not be able to provide evidence of their reservation for some of the days... Can we just use online email confirmations of other rooms and cancel once the entry permit is issued? Do the children names need to be on the reservation of hotel rooms as some hotels only allow two people name in the reservations? I have heard that email confirmations may not work. Any ideas would be helpful and appreciated! : )
