Gold TT Bars: Customs charges

Hello, how can I calculate the amount of duty charged on Gold TT bars? I will be carrying 3 bars with me and plan to sell/store it in China as I have Chinese residence visa and my wife's family lives there.

Thank You.

According to the related law, you can take as much as 50 grams gold. If you carry more than 50 grams, you need to pay around 10 percent tax. By the way, the customs officers will judge whether you take the gold under reasonable quantity and for personal use. If they think you take too much gold, then they might take your gold into custody.

Thank You Helen for the reply. Do you personally think 3 Gold TT bars would be considered a bit too much by the officers? Can I say that it is a gift to my wife's family members? Would that make a difference?

Thanks.

Xiao, it's no use even you say it is a gift. You know, gold is a kind of special good. It is different from other gifts. As I said, you can take as much as 50grams in total.
