Train ticket purchase (Shanghai to Suzhou)

For all the rail ticket, do we need to pre-purchase online? or we can just walk in and buy the next available one(eg. departing within minutes)? Is it very hard to get ticket for same day?
I am planning to go Suzhou from shanghai (and back to Shanghai on same day), but i couldn't estimate what is the time i will go, thus would prefer to go there only buy. I do not wish to stuck at the station to wait for few hours as well - so need to confirm first.

You need to wait a longline if you buy tickets from train station. You can book it online in advance then just collect it before your departure.
