About:Chinese Lacquer Ware

Why does lacquer have a funky smell to it?

I am in love with my new lacquer from the thrift shop. It was an early half birthday present and I am in love with the smell. I was wondering if it could be dangerous to my nose to smell. Should I wear a gas mask when using it? I am just scared for me and my dogs safety. Thanks for your time

Lily, newly-made lacquer wares have a special odor. If you don't like it, you mix a cup of warm water with a tablespoon of vinegar and then use it to wash your lacquer carefully. Then odor will disappear quickly.
