Processing Chinese Work Visa in Australia

I am about to be employed by a College in Shandong, China. They said for the work type entry permit, I dont need to physically go back to Australia; that we can send the relevant documents plus my passport to my sister in Sydney and she can present to Chinese Embassy, and then I can obtain the Z type, she can simply send my passport back to me. Is this correct, and if so, what documents are required?

Ben, I don't think you can do this. It is required that applicants should be in the country where they submit the application. If the consualr officer notices this point, then your application might be rejected if you just mail relevant documents back and assign others to do the application for you.
