This university has more than one campus in the city. As I know, almost all the international students stay in the Xianlin Campus at Wnyuan Road. If it is your destination, the distance from the South Station is around 26km and no public transportation is available. To travel with a small kid, I suggest you take a taxi and it costs CNY60 or a little more if charged by the meter.0
