I have X2 visa with single entry, can I extend it easily after it finishes?

Some body told me that I can not extend me X2. I must go back to my country and apply for new one. I hate it coz its single entry I can't go of china for 6 months. But I already spent 3 months here in beijing. Please tell me if there is any possibility of extension.
