indonesia passport 20 hrs transit in guangzhou for tip to canada, do i need the china

Question

I am from Indonesia. Will fly to Canada via Guangzhou with 20 hrs transit time. If i wish to visit and overnite in my Indonesias friend's house in the city. So do the return back journey from Canada, also will via Guangzhou with less than 24 hrs transit time.Please advise.Thanks in advance.

You needn't apply in advance because you enjoy 24 hours free transit in Guangzhou. You just need to apply for the stay permit when you pass the immigration counter. It's just a stamp on your passport and you can get it for free. With this stamp, you can exit to stay at your firend's home. But you don't forget to register at local police station immediately.
