Yeah, you are right. Aug. is the typhoon season, and it rains much. To my experience, the typhoon mostly happen in Aug. and it is not very safe to have outdoor activities then. Your trip is very likely to be affected. My suggestion is that you should change your travel plan if possible.

From March to May, and October to December, these are two periods of good time to visit that city. It is neither too hot nor too rainny. It is cool and sunny.
