About:China Visa

Hi. My malaysia passport expiring 12 Jun 2016. I go to china for internship. What visa do i apply?

Hi again, my questions are for two categories

My Malaysia passport is expiring on 12 June 2016. I am going to Beijing on 22 June 2015 - Mid Sep 2015 for internship and subsequently going to Hangzhou for school exchange (Mid Sep 2015 - Jan 2016: I am currently studying in a Singapore university and will be spending one semester of school in Hangzhou), may I know the answers to my following questions:
- What type do I need to apply for internship and exchange?
- Can i apply both at the same time?
- What should I need to prepare for my application?
- Can i apply for multiple entry for both? This is because I might want to travel out of PRC during weekends.

Embassies & Consulate
I am planning to travel to Hong Kong, Macau, Taiwan ("HMT") after my exchange in Hangzhou and I understand that it is 30 days free stay for a Malaysia passport. However as my passport is expiring on 12 June 2016, and I am travelling to HMT in Jan-Feb 2016. That case I can't fulfil the six months validity from date of entry. I am planning to renew my Malaysia passport in the Malaysia embassies in either in Guangzhou or Hong Kong or Taipei.

May I know out of the three embassies (Guangzhou, Hong Kong, Taipei) that I have mentioned:
- Which has the fastest processing time?
- When do I need to apply to renew my passport?

Hi Elena!

1. Is your internship paid? If yes, I think you need to apply for a Z type first and then apply for an X type for your study.

You can’t get the two entry permits at the same time. My suggestion is to get the Z type first and then change it into the X type in Mid Sep before the semester starts.

To apply for the Z type, you should first get the work license and invitation letter from Duly Authorized Unit with the help of your boss. Other documents required for submission are your passport, a photocopy of the passport, a printed application form, and a recent color bare-headed photo.

Actually, you don’t need to apply for multiple entries. If you can get the Z type, you can change it into a temporary residence permit at local exit and entry bureau. This permit will allows you to enter and leave freely.

2. You should go to the consulate in Shanghai to renew your passport for its consular district covers Hangzhou. For detailed renewal process, please contact the consulate. Here is the contact information.
