About:Qingming Festival

Is it OK to send flowers to a family to pay respect to their family for Qing Ming?

I want to send white and yellow chrysanthemum flowers to a friend to offer my respect to their family members, is this acceptable or are there other ways of going about it?

Also, is there saying for this, much like "Xīnnián kuàilè" for Happy New Year?

I'm Chinese too, but not very traditional, so I want to offer my respects even if I couldn't go with them to the cemetery.

I am Chinese too. I believe Qingming Festival is just for commemorating the family members or ancestors. So it must feel very strange to receive flowers from others, especially the receiver is still alive. I believe some sensitive Chinese might even think that is insulting, so please do not do that. If you want to show your respect for any dead people on this day, just go to their tomb and left the flowers there. If someone is really sad on this day for his or her loss, you can say "Jie Ai Shun Bian". Although, I think most Chinese take Tomb Sweeping and Spring Outing together so for them this day is not quite sad at all.
