One week seems too long to only stay in GZ. If you are interested, go to Foshan and Shenzhen for a side-trip as well. You can stay in GZ for 3-4 days and the must-sees are White Cloud Mountain, Yuexiu Park, Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall, Shamian Island, Chimelong Resort, Pearl River & Cruise and Canton Tower. Then head for Foshan to spend a whole day. It is famous for the lightings/lamps and furnitures as well as ceramics. For the rest time, you can have fun in Shenzhen, which can be reached by bullet train. The Dongmen Pedestrian Street, Window of the World, Splendid China, OCT East and Safari Park are highly recommended. For these places, at least two days are needed.
