Changing from student to spouse visa whilst in China

Hi there,

I've been living in China for 7 months now with my fiancee who is here on a Z type. I first arrived on a tourist type then changed to a student type which is due to expire at the beginning of next month. My fiancee and I are getting married in 10 days and ideally I'd like to change to a spouse type to save all the future entry permit worries and trips to Hong Kong etc. Is this something that's going to possible for me and if so, will it be possible for me to do this at the exit and entry office or will I have to leave and come back again? One of my main concerns is that the office will see that my current student type is almost up and might find this suspicious and reject my spouse type application, am I being paranoid?

Thanks in advance for any and all help!!

Lindsay

Hi Lindsay! Since you have changed the entry permit once and your current student type is going to expire, I think there is little chance that you can change it again. However, you can still try to do so at the exit and entry office. If being denied, you have to leave and reapply for the spouse type.
