Q1 is the correct type, after you arrive in China and rent an apartment or buy a house go to the nearest PSB and register your address than go to the PSB that will convert your Q1 into a residents permit, probably good for 2 years.

Jackson, I have question for you. A year ago we were talking about Q1 RPs. It's the third time now I'm renewing my RP at the local PSB and they're still refusing my request for a RP valid for more than a year regardless of the docs we have (proof of financial status, etc.). They basically say "here we can't provide anyone with residence permits more than 1year validity). Question 1. Any solution for this? (bc I'm spending too much money each year to back here once more to renew my RP in that specific time. I need to back to Europe for some other reason right before that time, I'd like to find a way to avoid this cost by having a RP valid for 2yrs at least). Question 2. Do you know if there is any possible way that I can use to apply in some other PSB? tnk u in advance

Jesus, I would also love to hear about a solution to this issue. Faced with similar issues. Its really annoying! Have you tried another city to get the Q1 renewed!? heard that someone in Tianjin (even living in Beijing) had gotten 5 years there without a problem

As far as I know, it's only possible to apply at the PSB of the city where the Spouse's hukou is issued. I don't think if it's possible to do it in the other city while she doesn't have the ID card of that city and the Hukou is also from other place. It was actually a part of the question that I had. :-)
