Do you think it is possible to obtain a VISA without a return plane ticket?

Hi! I plan to fly from BKK to China (guangxi) and later on move on and exit China by train to Vietnam. I'll later on fly from SGN-BKK and then home BKK-AMS. Seeing that i'll be leaving China by train..? (It's not possible yet to buy the train ticket before-hand as evidence.)
