About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit

ORD-SHA (VIA PEK)-SIN

I have an opportunity to go to Shanghai and will have a 24 layover in Beijing. Can I use 24-hour free transit to stay in a city center hotel and enjoy a quick tour? Does the 24-hours mean the time between arrival and scheduled departure time? And when arriving in Shanghai can I apply for a 72-hour visa free entry transit before my flight to a third country?

Jacobson, as you will stay in Beijing and Shanghai sucessively, I'm afraid the 72 hour free transit does not apply to you. If your total layover time in the two cities does not exceed 24 hours, then you can make use of the 24 hour direct transit policy. Generally speaking, the 24 hours count from the following midnight after your arrival at the entry port.

Please clarify information about 24-hour option. If my flight arrives at PKE at 1:00 on a Monday, the entry permit would expire at 00:00 Wednesday, a total of 33 hours? And then I could repeat this again in Shainghai?
Thank your for your clarification.
