Staying less than 24 hours in Shanghai

Hello! We are flying into SH, staying overnight in a hotel and leaving the next day on a cruise ship. I understand you can do it if you fly in and then fly out, but can we still use the 24 hour free transit if we are leaving by ship? Thanks for your time!

Yes, you can. For your stay within 24h, you can apply for a stay pemit upon landing and then you will be allowed to get into downtown for a short visit.
