About:China Visa Application Procedure and Fee

I need visa to go to Hong Kong as I hold a Sri Lankan passport.

Hi, Can I apply online? I live in Australia. I'm planning to go to Sri Lanka with a transit in HK and coming back to Australia I like to stay a couple of days in HK. Can I apply for double entry permit or should I apply for a transit type and a visit type? I heard that overseas passport holders have to go in person and handover the application to the Chinese embassy in Canberra.

Poorni, it's true that you can apply from Chinese embassy in Australia. If they handle your application, you may receive it on the fourth working day. However, it takes four to six weeks if you submit your application to HK Immigration Department.

For you, you should apply for a transit type in HK from Chinese embassy in Australia. Then you can apply for another Visitor type from Chinese embassy in Sri Lanka before you go to HK for a trip.

Online application is impossible.
