About:Chinese Consulate in Edinburgh

Conference invitation May '15 for just 3 days.

I have an invitation to attend a conference in Guilin. If I have an opportunity to remain in China for a total of 30 days, is an L visa as a tourist sufficient for both purposes? with thanks.

Gordon, if the conference is for business reasons, I think you should apply for an M type by providing an invitation letter from the relevant entity or individual in China. After you enter China, before your M type expires, you can go to the local Exit and Entry Administration Department to change the M type into an L type or extend the current M type, so that you can stay for some days.
