About:Marriage Registration in China

I plan on Marrying my Chinese girlfriend in August of this year. We have been dating for 8 months.

I have been to china on numerous trips and met this woman while shopping. So, anyway, we 'click'. We have discussed marriage and living in both China and the US. I have decided to ask her to marry me in August (on her birthday). She is 43. Some of her 'friends' have suggested that I apply for a Fiancee Visa. Personally I consider that nonsense and will be glad to marry her there, in her hometown. My thought is that I will follow this plan:

Get all the appropriate paperwork and documents, and be married in a civil ceremony in her hometown. I understand that she will still have to apply for entry permit to enter the US. My question is: How long after she applies for her application will it be granted. Anyone? Thanks.

Bill, it depends on what kind she applies. For a visitor type, it may take 2 to 3 days if she submits all required documents. However, it may take around 4 weeks if she was checked by the embassy.

Bill, i did it your way. Married my wife in China. To get immigration entry as a married spouse took about 14 months. I think the fiancee type is faster. And you can probaly have her travel here on a tourist type then apply in the US for modification
