long-term living in China? What are the options regarding a visa and/or residency?

Hello-
I have a very stable and prestigious employer that allows me to work 100% remote. My wife and I would like to raise our children in China in order for them to master the language and become familiar with the culture.

I think we would like to spend 4-5 years in China and then allow our children to visit once a year afterwards.

Jason, is your wife a Chinese? If so, you can apply Q1 type for you and your kid. As long as you change your Q1 into a temporary resident permit, you can stay in mainland. The duration depends on your wife's financial situation. The more money she has in her account, the longer duration of stay you will earn.
